Rust: How do I install Oxide2 and plugins?

In this tutorial we will briefly explain how you can install Oxide2 on your Rust Server. Oxide is a plugin management tool that allows you to install plugins on your server. Please note that before every FTP upload or plugin installation, the game server should be shut down.



Installation via the web interface

Click on your game server in the dashboard.

In the basic settings below, select Oxide and Save.

Installation via FTP

Download from Oxide2

Go to oxidemod.org and download the Oxide plugin for Rust.


Unpacking of Oxide2

We unpack the .zip file from Oxide into an extra folder. This should look like this.

Your view may differ from the original (e.g. the Csharp.exe may be missing).


Connect to the FTP

Upload the Oxide2 files

Now we upload the contents of the Oxide2 folder.

It should look like this:

Now start the server in the web interface.

An oxide directory should be created in /Release/oxide if Oxide has been successfully installed.


Installing plugins for Oxide2

You can now download plugins at Oxidemod.org/Plugins

Connect to the game server again via FTP and go into the following directory:

/Release/oxide/plugins.


Upload all downloaded plugins to this "Plugins" folder and restart the server.
