turn it on, then your character will get some absurd age. Just die and you will respawn as 20 years old.
Been nearly an hour now. Usually takes 5-10 minutes.
This is something that is set up in the map itself, so no you can't.
@694762 hello, many that have posted about receiving this error have stated if they log out and log back in the issue resolves. Give it a shot. Take care
It does not. Not the Travel Failed one anyway. Usually when its happening no one on the server can travel. Wall is blue, but you can't travel. Logging off doesn't help. Restarting the whole PC doesn't even help. Both have been tried,.
The server I play mostly on run by a YouTuber is like this 90% of the time. Travel failed, unable to start transfer. It is so infuriating. What's the point of even having multiple grids if you can never travel between them
Honestly I just ignore them and keep sailing. They are really more show than substance.
That's a good question. I wish we could get the ServerGrid.json files for the maps being offered so that we could load it up in the editor to see what we're working with.
I agree here. Something about the ones on the server can't be opened. Would be nice if GPortal could provide us the ones that do work in the editor.
With smaller maps, the game's default spawn rate for ships on a ship path is far far too high. With GPortals default 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 maps this results in walls of overlapping merchant ships which aside from causing navigation hazards, result in FPS problems for players, server lag, and strain on server resources.
If we are making a completely custom map, this is something we can do in the map editor. But if we are using the maps provided by GPortal, i requires editing the servergrid.json file.
Please when using a prebuilt map from GPortal allow an option to configure the spawn rates on the ship paths. This can be done via editing the servergrid.json as follows:
Yes but regurgitating exactly what I already said doesn't help. I get that things are hectic right now, but if you aren't even going to read the post there isn't much point replying.
In any case I am not asking for custom maps. Its clear that what I am trying to communicate is not getting across.
I will try putting in a ticket directly.
Okay from what I can find the setting is in the ServerGrid.json file. You will need to edit it with Notepad++ and upload it using FileZilla.
Check out this post on the ATLAS forum: https://www.playatlas.com/inde…rspawn-of-merchant-ships/
Um no offense but did you read what I wrote in the OP?
I know exactly how to do it I posted the instructions in the first post.
As customers we can not edit that file. Every time the server is restarted GPortal overwrites it with thier own. Presumably to prevent custom maps.
Furthermore as I stated in the OP, this is a change GPortal should WANT to do because it will reduce the resource requirements on their hardware. Ever custom map GPortal makes available has this problem so they should fix it on thier end. This will then fix it for every customer and reduce the server load for GPortal. A win for everyone.
Yeah not seeing any setting for merchants. The info I gave in the original post is how it needs to be adjusted in the servergrid.json, but I see no control for editing that.
"Also you do have a setting that controls that i believe. iirc again you need to turn down the spawn rate."
For the merchants? Ok let me go check before I sound like an arse then.
iirc someone has addressed this. It's like killing the dino spawn in ARK. I will search the posts to see if I can find it. Also you do have a setting that controls that i believe. iirc again you need to turn down the spawn rate. I could be wrong but like I said I recall reading about this today somewhere.
No they haven't addressed it. I posted above how to fix it. I checked the servergrisd.json on my server anmd it is set to default spawns.
Guess I need to put this in as a ticket to get a response? This is a win-win for everyone and would help multiple customers so thought this was the best way to approach it.
Dinowipe doesn't affect merchant ships, so not sure why they told you this. How long ago was this?
NPC Trading Ships are back and no longer affected by wild creature destruction commands! Reminder for those with deep pockets, the trader ships have an epic Dragon which can be purchased for 50,000 gold coins
The spawn rate of the merchant ships is designed for the full size map. On the smaller maps this is WAAAAY too high and is causing literally walls of merchant ships that overlap each other and not only cause a problem for players, but also make the server less stable and probably are increasing resource requirements for the server. Reducing this is a win for both the players and GPortal.
It is easy to fix, but needs adjusting in the servergrid.json file which we can't modify (last I checked it was overwritten on server startup).
Can we please get this adjusted in the default GPortal maps? To do so just modify the ShipPaths entries in the servergrid.json as follows:
The UTC interval is in milliseconds, and 5000 has been passed around as a good number for small maps.
nope 2x2 map and its all good for us. There are copper rocks that give plain metal, but outside of the starting island there are tons of other varieties of everything. I think you just need to do some exploring if you haven't. The started island tends to be just the generic versions.
At least you are getting valid maps. Almost every map we get is blank.
