Change Message of the Day, PVP to PVE, and points per level?

  • Anyone know how/where in the INI to adjust those as indicated above in the title? I've finally gotten the harvest rates and EXP to work how I want on the main server (I'm sure it's going to be messed up once the cluster for expanded map is up) but I can't figure out how to fix the rest. Anyone also know if there's a way to remove the level 8 cap on a freeport?

  • Points per level is still being figured out as far as I know.

You can remove the cap on Freeports through the server control panel.

Also to change the server from PVE and PVP. Access your FTP and navigate to ShooterGame-->Config-->DefaultGameUserSettings.ini

Here you can enter ServerPVE=true (or false).

Also MOTD can be changed while in-game. You need to open the console with ~ and type "enablecheats yourserverpassword" and then "showmyadminmanager". In here you will find the box where you can edit the MOTD.

  • MOTD issue works for just typing in a quick message for folks while i'm online. Was hoping for one that would "stick" and be up at the top upon every time someone signs in to let them know to go to the discord for rules.

I've done this as recommended by another server owner that works just fine through his provider, but when I do it...the EXACT code he has which works perfectly through his host, I get NEGATIVE skill points

  • The issue seems like it stems from how gportal configures their servers. I've never had another host not have a "game.ini" to go along with "defaultgame.ini" and I feel like that may be the leading issue...since the exact same code works -perfectly- through other providers.

Someone in another thread said that setting all the Engram values to 5 worked.

  • For engram points what I had to do to get them to work is edit the defaultgame.ini AND Game.ini to get them to work. Replace thise 2 files anywere you find them. As soon as I did that worked like a charm for engram points. I had the files in the regular config file and saved file for each sector section even ones that I dont have a sever.

Your message has me confused. For us dummies, can you do a step-by-step walkthrough, on how you solved this? Please, and Thank You :D

  • Once you have added the engram overrides to the defaultgame.ini you have to use a program like file zilla connect to each server grids IP:Port with your unique login info under server status go to directory /ShooterGame/Saved/**ServerGrid**/Config/WindowsServer in the remote site and change each game.ini individually or the game will default to that individual maps game.ini when changing zones

note- **servergrid** is the server grid folder name such as XXX_B1 or XXX_A3

Though having increased engrams is nice you get 741 at level 101 by default which is enough to have 80% of the skills in the game if not using mods, if your worried about max level calculate how many discoveries are in your map, if you have powerstones and server boss include 510 points, 40 points a powerstone and 150 for boss and add 100 for whales (50 each 1 time discovery) if they are in your map. The default discovery is 25 points per character level with minimum 3 points per island discovery.

if your server level cap without discoveries is 50 you need 425 discovery locations in your map or 225 with powerstones and 222 total if you have whale discoveries enabled. 1275/3=425; (1275-510)/3=225); (1275-510-100)/3=221.6 with default values. Adjust your minimum discovery points accordingly for your map discovery size or increase the server soft-cap

For my server I have made a personal 3x3 map and added discovery points to the islands themselves so an island closer to fp gives 5 points, and an island farthest away gives 20 and the powerstone islands give 20 points and POI discoveries give +5 points more than the island themselves.
